    Great drives for the cost

I got the 4TB versions of these drives. No issues. The drives were clean. Are running in my NAS in mirrored mode. I’ve run SMART tests on them with no errors. I’ll likely buy more when I need more space.

    Reliable Drives

I bought two of these drives for my new build. Windows 11 Home can find and format these 20 TB drives and was able to combine the two drives in a mirrored array. I used five Seagate 12 TB IronWolf drives in a Synology NAS system five years ago. This brand is reliable.

works great in my Mac Pro, easily formatted and put in a RAID. it is standard SATA connector so it’s a good value.

    Great product

I bought 2 disc for my DIY Nas. I don’t installed yet, but, for reference, they are the best ones for a NAS.

    Beastly!

I would recommend these drives especially when on said. They work off the bat and showed no sign of a faulty drive when tested with multiple applications. I liked them so much I have 3 of them now and been lasting longer than my WD Hard Drives. I use to be skeptical on seagate and those have always failed before the amount of time they are usually suppose to last. But ironwolf is the way to go if you got the extra cash.

    Reliable and fast.

I use this in a DAS enclosure for RAID 10. Have been using it for about 5 months now. Will update if something happens. I get about 160 MB/s in RAID 10.

great packaging, at close to 90 hrs per drive to test I’ve got about 5 days left to test all 4

I saw a number of negative reviews but .. my guess is these were NOT sold by and shipped by Amazon???These drives will perform flawlessly in a new RAID-5 MegaRAID 9500 Model 9560-8i with their LSI Logic AC 05-50039-00 CacheVault Accessory – when I get that set up!!I’ve yet to deal with Seagates RMA system .. but I stopped using Western Digital as they would replace a 5 year warranty drive with a 90 day warranty drive and had that whole SMR fiasco which made me .. Not .. trust them.2-3 years from now I won’t care .. and will just use Samsung SSDs in my RAIDs as the price point will be perfect for my use .. and say Bye Bye to spinning disks.I am trying out the new SpinRite 6.1 to test these. I’m doubtful of Spinrite’s claims to be able to ‘fix’ a bad block (and why would I Want to in a RAID using TLER drives?? .. just Map out any troublesome blocks??)But .. Spinrite is doing a decent drive of testing every single sector as do Not want surprises after the RAID is setup. 12TB drives in a RAID take a Long Time to rebuild if one were to fail. No errors so far during testing.I’d suggest ordering at least 4 of these together (and Only these drives without any other products for a compact fit) as the packaging will probably be better and less likely to be tossed across the room as the drives aren’t light.

1 year of 24/7 activity no issues

I’ve got 4 of these as data drives in a NAS array, running 24/7 with a light workload, and have so far had no SMART errors or bad sectors. With my setup (tightly packed drives in an enclosure, noctura 120mm fan running at 100% speed) in 21 celcius ambient temps, they run about 32 c idle, and 40 c under load.I’ve read some mixed reviews about their reliability on a large scale in a datacenter setting, but for my needs as a homelab NAS drive, they are more than adequate for a better price than some other comparable drives from other manufacturers. I specifically bought due to their CMR, 7200 rpm, and cache size. They are definitely noisier than a normal consumer HDD, but not nearly as bad as I thought they’d be or I’d been led to believe. Activity is very audible as a low rumble.Edit: totally forgot that I did have one drive that was dead on arrival, but with Amazon’s return process was no problem to get it replaced.

Excellent Drive for a reasonable price, used as offline storage

Despite this drive being stated for use on an NAS, I wanted to see if I could use this with another device also purchased here on Amazon since I do not yet own an NAS. I wanted to archive files for basic offline storage using USB 3.1 Pluggable dock. There was a question as to whether it would support such a large drive formatted as NTFS and if it did work would it be too loud? I performed searches and concluded through multiple sources that it was possible to do this. Would highly recommend that if you are attempting to archive a large volume that you make sure that your USB drivers are up to date for highest speed data transfer. I was able to back up files without too much noise or any overheating. For my use case I was highly satisfied maybe one day I’ll actually get an actual NAS.

    Great drive for NAS

These have been my go-to drives for a long time now for NAS. The warranty is fantastic, data recovery included. Not that I’ve ever had a failure. I have tens of thousands of hours on multiple ones, not even a bad sector yet. Note that there is a difference between the regular Ironwolf and the Pro version. Pro has a longer warranty, and supposedly is built with better components. I’ve only used Pro versions, so I don’t know how reliable the other ones are. BTW, I’ve used these in several different Synology NAS products, they’re plug and play. Just ignore the lame warning that the drive isn’t compatible, that’s pure marketing nonsense to try to get people to buy Synology drives at an elevated cost and lower reliability.

These are my go-to HDD drives for backups and storage!

This is my third Seagate IronWolf internal NAS hard drive and the largest drive I’ve purchased to date. It was very easy to set up, connected immediately and has worked flawlessly since I installed it. The read/write times are quite decent as far as HDD drives go, especially at this size of storage. I am able to transfer large batches of files reliably in a reasonable amount of time without any issues.I have two of these drives installed in my studio workstation and one in an external dock. All of them have worked equally well, regardless of how they’re connected. They are well designed and reliable, so they have become my go-to drives for file storage and backups. I trust them for short term storage, as well as backing up and archiving all of artwork, photos, videos, and studio documents long term. I also really appreciate the large storage space at this price point.I’m very pleased with my Seagate IronWolf internal NAS hard drives and plan to purchase another of these 12 GB drives in the near future for additional backups. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a large, reliable HDD drive at a reasonable price point!

Iron Wolf HDDs: Arrived on time, installed easily, run like a top in DS224+

I bought two 8 TB Seagate Iron Wolf NAS HDDs to mount in a new Synology DS224+. The drives were well packed, easy to prep for installation, and went into the DS224+ with no trouble. An hour after I opened the box the DS224+ was on our network loading installation data. The drives have never hiccupped, lost a bit or a byte, made excessive noise, or been the source of any problem. I see and read the reviews by other users who had different experiences. Those unhappy experiences are very different than mine. Our Synology NAS devices with Iron Wolf 8 TB HDDs store and stream music and videos, and maintain photos and important correspondence. They’ve been trouble-free for 14 months of usage. They run at 91 and 95 degrees F, connected to our home LAN.I would recommend these Iron Wolf HDDs to anyone building or acquiring a home NAS.

    Excellent Buy

I bought two of these for my new Synology NAS and they are working perfectly. I’ve had my old ReadyNAS box for a LONG time; it is noisy, slow, and hot. The combination of the Synology DS224+ and these drives has been much quieter, faster, and cooler. I store all my video projects (along with a LOT of other stuff) on this system. When I am copying files, I can hear the drives a little, but it is not bad at all. So far, I love the combination.Recommended.

Very large 20 TB capacity and a high quality hard drive.

Seagate Iron Wolf Pro 20TB has a large capacity, easy setup and format, and very quiet.I’m using it as a data backup system and I backed up my entire desktop system with 4 various HD and NVME disks and it filled up just over 25% of this disk.I did have a problem with this order as I received the first shipment only to find that the box label had the right info but the disk inside was a Seagate Barracuda 256GB HD. Certainly a return scam. But Amazon reordered it and the second order was right.I HIGHLY recommend this 20TB Disk, especially when it was the same price as a 16TB

Amazing Hard Drive (For Under $400)

This thing is a monster. It has the file size I need for all my games, music files, VODs, and documents. I have this hooked up to a Saberent USB 3.0 to Sata external docking station and I’m able to run things nearly as fast as a cheap nvme. The speed and durability of this thing is worth every penny. Its built like a quality hard drive should be.

    Worth the money

Works pretty well for my NAS. Have used for around 4 or 5 months. There is some level of noise when standing close enough. But rarely had chance to hear it as it is in a room I don’t go to often. It’s definitely worth the money.

    Noisy but good

I have both the 16t and the 20t. I wanted two 20t HHDs but the is what was available. They both work fine but the 16t is very noisy. Not enough to bother you during the day but noisy enough to interfere with sleep if it is in the same room as you. The 20t sounds like any other internal drive. In Europe Seagate has been caught selling used drives as new. To make sure these are new, when you get em make sure the warranty is still valid and test the drive with software like ScanDiskInfo. Scan Disk Info wont fix anything, all it does is diagnostics and it is free. It will tell you how many times it has been turned on and off, how many hours it has been running, how many times it has been written too and read from and if there are any bad sectors and much much more. It is a wonderful utility for monitoring the health of your Drives.Mine are both new and unused.

Fantastic HDD for your Synology NAS!

The Seagate IronWolf 8TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD is a GREAT option for your Synology NAS. While it appears that Synology has recently decided to only recommend their own HDDs for support reasons, Seagate IronWolf remains an affordable option for users.I purchased this to expand my existing data pool and both installation and integration were a snap. It took about two days for the system to integrate the drive and it’s working great!Thank you Seagate and Amazon for keeping these drives affordable!

I’ve been bitten by the IronWolf, and I’m turning!

After outgrowing the storage capacity of my previous NAS setup, I decided to upgrade to the Asustor AS5304T and populate it with some high-capacity Seagate drives. I had heard great things about Seagate’s IronWolf line of drives being purpose-built for NAS environments, so I decided to go with the 8TB models to populate my 4-bay unit.Right out of the box, the solid build quality of the IronWolf drives was apparent. Installation into the Asustor was a breeze. After configuring them in a RAID 5 array, I started transferring my data over from the old drives.I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the transfer speeds – I’m getting those real-world write speeds over 180 MB/s. The 7200 RPM spindle speed and 256MB cache give the 8TB IronWolf a nice performance boost compared to lower capacity models. But what’s most important for a NAS drive is reliability, and the IronWolf seems built to handle constant 24/7 operations without issue. Seagate’s rotational vibration sensors and error recovery control features give me a lot more confidence, and given that I’m not yet hardcore enough to keep even more backup servers going, I like feeling secure with each of the drives in my current RAID 5 setup.Do NOT ignore Seagate’s AgileArray technology which optimizes the IronWolf specifically for RAID environments like my 4-drive array. It’s clear this drive was designed from the ground up with NAS usage in mind. Even under heavy read/write loads, the 8TB IronWolf drives have stayed cool and performed flawlessly in my Asustor. It has also meant that on the two occasions that I had an inproper server shutdown (totally user error on my part), reconfiguring without data loss was relatively quick (<3 hours compared to my old setups 19 hour record).Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase of the 8TB IronWolf drives. The combination of high capacity, enterprise-grade reliability, and great performance makes them an ideal choice for my demanding home NAS needs. If you're looking to upgrade your NAS without compromises, the IronWolf line deserves serious consideration.

    Huge space! FAST.

1ST. Please note I have blacked out the QR codes & serials on the pics. …Just so you know. The drives don’t look like that with big black marks on them! These drives (24TB IronWolf Pro) are just working great. I have a pair of the 14TB IronWolf Pro’s that I got 3 years ago & they have been really good too, but they seem a little slow now compared to these. These are working perfectly & seem faster than pretty much any traditional (mechanical) hard drives I’ve ever had.The drives are 7200 RPM & are in the 3.5 inch form factor. These do have to be initialized & formatted in Windows Disk Management before they can be used. After that, they were recognized by Windows immediately. You will want to choose GUID (GPT) as the partition type for large drives like this, & then format as NTFS for Windows machines. Then they will show up with a drive letter & you’re in business. My two drives arrived in perfect condition, and when checked out had no errors or bad sectors etc at all. Both had ZERO hours on them and they are brand new drives. You do lose a big chunk of space when formatting in Windows, so expect the formatted drive for the 24TB models anyway, to come out to about 21.8TB usable. …It’s just a Windows thing unfortunately.Transfers on these huge drives as I said are VERY FAST, and I just could not be happier with my drives thus far.I’ve had great experiences with the IronWolf Pro drives from Seagate in the past few years. So these are highly recommended.
