Handy to have
This cute little radio has all the features needed – am and fm radio plus 7 weather radio stations and the automatic weather alert setting. Haven’t had to use the siren alert yet, but the am and fm stations sound surprisingly good for a radio of this size. The built-in flashlight with 3 settings is handy too. Instruction handout was easy to understand.

Early warning for sever weather events
In our very rural area, The local news is fixated on reporting around the city. We are a forgotten lot. This little radio gives much comfort knowing we can have a real time updates of any sever weather outbreak.

This radio isn’t the fanciest, but I’ve found it helpful in storms where I lost power/internet. The flashlight is helpful, but I can’t speak to battery life since I haven’t had to use it for super long amounts of time.

Great Little Radio
Excellent, love the size. About the size of an iPhone, only thicker. Great for taking in the go if need be. Decent sound for all stations up to around 80-90% max volume. The weather alert/alarm is a great function. Can’t beat it at this price point.

I live in Nebraska, in other words in Tornado Alley. This weather radio gives me a great sense of peace, especially as we had 19 tornados tear through our state and our neighbor Iowa just last week. I highly recommend it.

Great little radio. Perfect for everyday listening as well as to NOAA during severe weather. Access to the NOAA weather broadcast combined with local news is valuable during storms, especially during a power outage; and hurricane season is just around the corner. Extremely solid, well built radio, as only Midland can provide. Great to have one for the house, and another one for the car. Easily fits in the glove compartment or the center console. Comes complete with lanyard and high quality, replaceable batteries. I bought two.

Extremely Useful, Very Portable
I purposely got the rechargeable one.This is a very handy little radio. It is a little smaller but has the same sound quality as a 1970s transistor radio. If you are looking for the ultimate listening experience this is not for you. If you was instant weather alerts on the go this unit will do that. I live in a metro area and all the stations I listen to in my car come in clearly on this radio. It has preprogramed National Weather Service channels or you can step through the frequencies.Other reviews have mentioned very tight batteries. The batteries that come with it and normal off the shelf AA batteries fit extremely tightly. I had to use 2 thumbs to push them all the way in and had to pry all three out. With the batteries pushed all the way in the battery compartment will close but make sure they are in all the way.I am hard of hearing and often have difficulty understanding words over radio and TV. The sound quality is good enough I clearly hear every word, a little staticky but sufficient. The sound quality improves greatly when using my wired ear buds. The voice comes through in both ears.This unit weighs almost nothing and fits in a pencell bag. Easy to take any ware. I bought it for the weather broadcasts, but AM and FM reception is acceptably good as well. I tested the weather alert last nigh when the severer weather announcements came through the alarm was enough to wake me up. the flashing light helped me find the radio.The flashlight illuminated my entire pitch black bedroom sufficiently to navigate without tripping over stuff on low beam. The slightly brighter setting is exactly that. The flashing beam gets your attention.For the price I think it is a good value.

WAY WORTH IT!
This little radio is something you can keep in your car, keep in your pocket, or keep in your house. It’s pretty easy to operate once you read the instructions. I got this to keep with me throughout the winter months. I’ve had it for three days now and tried everything on it out. The weather radio comes in just fine AM and FM come in fine too. The sound is not bad, considering the size and price. The light has three settings, low, not so low, and an “SOS” blinking light. The light is not super bright, but it works good. I haven’t heard the alarm yet, ill keep it with me at work tomorrow for the weekly test, just so I know what to expect. I can’t tell anyone yet about the battery life, as I’ve only had it for a few days, but it has a battery life indicator on the screen, which is a good feature to have for an “emergency” radio. This little radio works good. I think everyone should have an emergency type radio, especially in today’s world. I would say that if you can’t afford, or just don’t want a larger radio, this would be a really good choice. It’s not big, so you can take it with you if you want. I bought a second one just so I would have a backup on hand in case something happens to it. Really, I did. Also I’ve had no problems with reception anywhere I’ve taken it. Just as a suggestion, I would keep three spare AA batteries handy, as there is no solar or hand crank on this model. Really impressed with this.

I bought it for weather emergencies when the wifi may not be working. We have a lot of tornadoes here in Arkansas and I feel much better having it. The lights go out a lot too since we live in a rural area and I like having the flashlight built in.

Great little weather radio/flashlight. For the size it plays really well, flashlight not the brightest but works well also. Works fine. Hungry for batteries
It would be great if this unit had a DC input so the batteries were only used during mains power failure. I don’t know if it is just mine, but it seems to really enjoy eating batteries. This is NOT thing you want to be rooting about for batteries when you need it.

It does what I need for working outside.
This is the third radio that supposedly hay weather alert functions. The first could receive the weather but it never alerted when alarms were sent. The second also received the broadcasts well but alarmed about every 15 minutes even when no alarms wee sent. This one has alarmed when alarms sent and has done what I wanted it for.. Works great when doing things outside but don’t want to listen to the radio.. Very recommended..

Cool radio for around the house or vacation. Weather radio and handy flashlight. The emergency alert (if you have it on) WILL wake you up. Had a eton microlink fr160. The Midland feels more solid and uses 3 AA (easy to find) batteries. Has headphone jack. Buying my boys one for their families!

Delivers what it promises–the weather!
I purchased this mainly as a weather radio to use while camping, and it serves that purpose well. I do have a few comments:> As pointed out by other reviewers, there’s no way to save AM/FM stations, so you can’t quickly step through known stations. The tuning does accelerate when you hold down a tuning button. Turning the radio back on will take you to the band and station it was set to when you turned it off.> You do need to be a little careful when turning off the radio. It requires a three second push of the on-off button. Read the instruction sheet that comes with this. It’s complete and well-written.> There’s no way to run this from an AC adapter. Because this is powered by three AA batteries, I suspect it would run fine from a 5V DC adapter (think USB). There is one on Amazon that I may try!I give this 5 stars despite these nits. The radio works, is solid, and sounds good for what it costs. I truly am a happy camper!
